One year later watching the sun go down in a peaceful anchorage we find that all that stuff that we couldn't live without is costing us a good amount of money for storage that we could better use for cruising. In other words we find that stuff is not so essential as we thought it was. We decided that I must return to Canada to reduce the amount of stuff to a size that would fit in our daughter's basement box room.
So here I am in Calgary preparing to drive to our storage shed to begin the task. It is great to visit my son and his family here. The two grand daughters have grown more beautiful and more mature. My son has a little job for me to do before I start my project. He has just sold one of his large car carriers and would like me to deliver it to Inuvik, Northwest Territories before the winter closes the road around October 20. It is a trip of over 2000 miles with about 500 miles of gravel roads. What a contrast to Mexico.
There is a scramble to find the winter boots, parka, gloves and long-johns. It is already winter there now I must be prepared for anything. One is liable to become stranded during winter storms so one must be self sufficient. It is like living on a boat, one must be prepared, equipped and self sufficient.
It looks like I will be leaving tomorrow for Edmonton where a number of vehicles will be loaded and then on northward. I will continue these posts as I progress on this adventure.
