Will moving aboard improve your health?

Moving aboard our sailboat and leaving our stressful work-a-day life certainly has improved our health. We are in better physical, mental and spiritual condition now than we were just 10 months ago. My wife, Phyllis, and I moved aboard our sailboat, Apolima, in November 2008 in Los Angeles, Ca and are now anchored in La Paz, Baja, Mexico.

What are the factors that determine this change of health? Is it just a simple thing like the salty air we breathe, the increased exercise aboard, better food intake, less stress, or just a different location?

Of course it depends in each individual case. It depends on where you are coming from and where you are going to. Generally most people that move aboard and go off cruising do so to get away from a stressful, complicated lifestyle.

What are the factors in your life that cause you to think about a change in lifestyle?

Congrats on your blog, you seem to be on the right track. I think you are right and it is the combination of a lot of things. I read a book a few years back by a Veterinarian in California, that said you can live 15 years longer just by going cruising. Sounds good to me
